- Paul Guyot released his ATA support software and source code as freeware. See http://www.kallisys.com/newton/ata/
- Michael Vacik released an update (v2.5) of his Packager application. Packager fixes Newton *.pkg file type to associate the package with your preferred installer application, and set it apart from Mac OS X native installers with the same file extension. - Eckhart Koppen released NhttpLib 3.5, which now supports redirects. See http://40hz.org/wiki/index.php/NHttpLib
- Andy Galluzzi released Newton Connection Tools v1.0, a NCU replacement that works in Windows 2000/XP/Vista. See http://usuarios.arnet.com.ar/mtu16/
- Paul Guyot released the Einstein project as open source under the GNU GPL license. Einstein emulates the Newton for use as an alternate OS on other platforms. It is currently available for the Sharp Zaurus, Apple's Mac OS X, Nokia 770 and N800, and the PepperPad 3. The emulator requires an original Newton ROM to be installed in order to function. - Doug Parker released the Newtway v2. v2 sets the cable across the connector allowing a more secure connection to the Stowaway keyboard. A Newtway is a cable and connector that connects a Stowaway keyboard to the Newton. Enquiries can be directed to newtway A-T ispinn D-O-T C-O-M.
- Eric Brown released an update of his Newton Book Reader Extension for Mozilla. See http://www.newtonslibrary.org/nbrdr/
- Grant Hutchinson took over from Victor Rehorst as list dad for Newtontalk.
- Matt Howe released a new version of holidays.pkg which allows a heap of holidays to be quickly loaded into the Dates application. See http://home.comcast.net/~mhowe41/Software/holidays.htm
- Matt Howe has released a utility that reduces the chances of getting something wrong and having to start over in producing maps for GPSMap. See http://home.comcast.net/~mhowe41/Software/GPSMap.htm
- Avi Drissman approved the release of the source code for Fix2010.
